Psychosocial Impact of the Uranium Disaster in the Sweetwater Chapter of the Navajo Nation
2018-present (ongoing)
Dr. Wier is the Co-PI on a research project with a multi-disciplinary team at Colorado State University. She designed and manages a community-based qualitative research activity with a rural community in NE Arizona on the Navajo Reservation. This research uses a One Health approach and documents individual and collective experiences with the legacy of uranium mining. The data will be analyzed with the community through a participatory process. The research team is also testing soil and water to support the community with health risk analysis for human and animal health.
